Our classic open-gable styled retreat: traditional and elegantly minimalist. Our most popular option, this model features floor-to-ceiling windows and low-pitched roof that maximizes both natural light and headroom. The optimal venue for any activity (or inactivity), this model gives you the space you need to reset, reassess, and renew. 12’ x 12’ x 10’.

  • A Garden Studio is a thoughtfully designed, well-built accessory structure to an existing home with a visually pleasing exterior, finished and insulated interior, lighting and electricity, and typically air-conditioned/heated space.

    As a detached unit, it serves as an alternative to a home addition or renovation, avoiding any disturbance to your existing home. In most cases, it is also more cost-effective and less time-intensive.

    A Garden Studio is versatile, but common uses include:

    • GYM OR YOGA STUDIO

    • ART STUDIO

    • LOUNGE ROOM

  • North Hill offers buyers several options in customizing their own Garden Studio, including:

    • Exterior siding and roofing materials and colors

    • Interior walls, ceiling, flooring finish materials and colors

    • Windows and doors: amount, location, and frame colors

    • Site add-ons, including deck porch and patio

    What is not included in the price?

    • Landscaping or hardscaping

    • Customization beyond the standard North Hill options

    • Electrical connection from house to shed. This cost will be determined based on actual site conditions.

    Is financing available?

    • Yes, we offer financing through our trade partner Acorn Finance.

    Can I choose paint colors?

    • Yes, as part of your ordering process you will choose your interior and exterior paint colors.

    Can I customize?

    • Yes, we allow for different choices of roof material, exterior siding, interior wall finishes, and paint colors. Click the more info button under each design to view all the available options for each model.

    Can I finish it myself?

    • Yes, we do have an option to provide the shell and exterior finishes only. Contact us for more details if you’d like to DIY the interior of your studio.

    Does it come with electricity? Heating? Air?

    • Yes, our Garden Studios come wired with power and lighting circuits.

    • Each studio is designed with the ability to add HVAC if you so chose.

    Can I have plumbing added?

    • Due to their size and permitting restrictions, we currently do not offer plumbing as a feature.

    What permitting is required?

    • Depending on your jurisdiction, permitting is usually only required for the electrical portion of the Garden Studio.

    Can I decide on window and door placement?

    • Our designs are built to plan and as such do not allow for changes to window and door location. However, we can mirror plans to better fit your property.

    Can you build a greenhouse style shed?

    • We don’t currently offer a greenhouse Garden Studio, but if that’s something you’d like please drop us a line.

    What lighting is installed?

    • Our Garden Studios come standard with overhead recessed lights.

    How long does it take start to finish?

    • The entire process takes 10-12 weeks from receiving the contract and deposit.

    • Windows and doors currently have a 6 to 8 week lead time and are ordered as soon as the deposit is received.

    • Installation typically takes about three weeks from start to finish and we schedule this as closely to the window/door ship date as possible.

    I have a fenced in space, how will you get materials in and out?

    • Most of the construction components are brought in by hand so access via a gate should be sufficient.

    Will your company pay for any damages done to the yard in the process?

    • We use best efforts to minimize any impact to lawns or yards, but our workers need access to install your new Garden Studio and as such we do not warrant against the normal wear and tear that will accompany the installation process.

    Do you install the pavers/gravel/steps to the Studio?

    • The Garden Studio installation does not include hardscaping

    I have materials on hand  I would like used in my Studio, can you do this? (I.e. repurposed wood, extra flooring, shingles in hand, a door , etc.)

    • Our Studios are built according to plan, as such we cannot use repurposed materials.

    What are the payment terms?

    • We require a 50% deposit at the time of placing the order with us. This deposit covers the cost of the custom ordered windows/doors and other materials that are required to construct the studio.

    • The balance is due upon completion of the studio.

    How can I make payment?

    • We accept check or bank transfer.

    • We also accept credit cards but unfortunately must add 3.5% to cover the processing fees.

    Is financing available?

    • Yes! through our trade partner Acorn Finance. The application process is quick and simple. Terms and conditions are dependent on the borrower.
